States Newsroom Launches New Hampshire Bulletin

Former Concord Monitor Editor Dana Wormald to Serve as Outlet’s Editor-In-Chief

Concord, NH – Today, States Newsroom, the nation’s leading network of state-based nonprofit news outlets, announced the most recent launch in its expansion plans for 2021: the New Hampshire Bulletin. This newest outlet is the organization’s twenty-second, and will be led by veteran New Hampshire journalist Dana Wormald.

The New Hampshire Bulletin will provide top-quality journalism focused on holding government accountable and ensuring readers have the best information on the issues that affects them most, like education, health care, jobs and the economy.

“There is no question that local newsrooms are struggling both nationally and in New Hampshire. Downsizing and closures are commonplace. Meanwhile, the community’s need for reliable local coverage is more urgent than ever,” said Dana Wormald, editor-in-chief of the New Hampshire Bulletin. “I’m thrilled to team up with other journalists who are and have been dedicated to providing the people of New Hampshire with news that impacts their daily lives. We’re committed to providing high-quality, non-partisan reporting on the critical issues of our time.”

Wormald, who has been a newspaper editor for over 25 years, comes to the New Hampshire Bulletin after serving seven years as the Opinions Editor at the Concord Monitor and more than a decade as an editor at the New Hampshire Union Leader.

The new outlet’s staff includes other seasoned New Hampshire journalists, including Annmarie Timmins, who spent 25 years at the Concord Monitor covering state government, and Ethan DeWitt, formerly of The Keene Sentinel and Concord Monitor. Amanda Gokee has also joined the newsroom, coming to New Hampshire from VTDigger.

“States Newsroom will have expanded to at least 25 states by the end of this year. We’re growing, and rapidly, because we are meeting the demand for high-quality, non-partisan reporting at a local level,” said Chris Fitzsimon, Director and Publisher of States Newsroom. “The New Hampshire Bulletin will serve as a beacon for New Hampshire residents seeking clear and honest state government reporting. We look forward to continuing to build robust, successful newsrooms like this one.”

Previously, Fitzsimon founded and led NC Policy Watch, North Carolina’s leading news and commentary outlet, before launching what was to become States Newsroom in 2017.

States Newsroom is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that is funded exclusively by the generous contributions of readers and philanthropists. States Newsroom is committed to supporting fact-based, non-partisan news to the public at no cost and ad-free.
